Emails flew with very little warning that the Half Moon BBQ was closing. JP McDermott offered to do a show for and with whoever showed up. Despite the short notice quite a few folks showed up. The evening was fun if not mellancholy.
I got there about 6:15 and glommed onto a table that Shelley had. JP started about 6:30 or so. There was a pretty steady crowd. We went through JP's band, Bob Parilla, Karen Collins, Mark Noone, Ester Haynes, a bunch of the open-mikers, Ira Gitlin, Dan Hovey, Dagmar, Dave Kitchen, Patti Reese, and Ruthie. Billy Hancock & Mark Wenner made appearances but didn't play.
There was a limited menu and all sorts of other food floating around, including cake. They ran out of Yingling by the end of the night... and were left with just Bud & Bud Lite. It wouldn't be Half Moon without a little disaster... the credit card machine went down. Alvin made a reappearance... I think Marc called him to get the CC machine working again.
There were a lot of the usual suspects in the crowd... Chris Rock was bopin' around up front... and all was momentarily right with the world.
I didn't get out of there until almost midnight. Best of luck with your next venture Mr. Gretchel.
