I was inspired at James Hunter's show at Iota last night...
Inspired to buy a Sam Cooke CD.
Ok to be fair it was a good show. Some folks were having a religious experience. On the plus side, he's got a great voice. The band was really tight. And they had a solid stage presence.
On the down side, the show was less than an hour and a half long including the two song encore. And a lot of the songs ended up sounding the same. Half had that same Sam Cooke 'Everybody Loves to Cha Cha Cha' beat. Some of the rest pushed toward Rocksteady & Reggae.
So I'll be looking forward to see him at Ninigret. Would I go see him again as a headliner? I don't know... it depends... maybe not.
For this critique, I am fully expecting to be summarily excommunicated by the First Church of Hunter.
